ABOUT

John-Mark Lapham is an award-winning video producer, animator and music producer with over 15 years experience in audio+visual creation. He has made videos for artists as diverse as Sade, Andre 3000, Throwing Muses, Norman Reedus, the Night Flight Channel, Richard Linklater, Goat and many more.

John-Mark spent some 12 formative years in the north of England studying audio production. This led to the formation of a handful of music projects since the early 2000’s, including The Earlies (679/Names/Secretly Canadian), The Late Cord (4AD), The Revival Hour (Antiphon), Old Fire (KScope, Brooklyn Bridge Records and Western Vinyl) and MIEN (Rocket Recordings).

In 2018, JM pivoted to video production with a focus on editing and animation. He directed his first live action music video in 2016 for the song, Laser Beam by Old Fire and went on to create surreal, cut and paste animated music videos for a long list of artists.

In 2020, JM worked as Character Animation Unit Editor for Richard Linklater’s rotoscope opus, Apollo 10 1/2, A Space Age Childhood, playing on Netflix. He also created a series of animation collages for Emmy Award-winning director, Keith Maitland, and his documentary Dear Mr. Brody. Most recently, JM’s animation for Goat’s “Under No Nation” won the Jury Prize for Best Music Video at the esteemed Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in California.
